Clay County Public Health Center is one location where you can drop off samples to be taken to the Missouri State Public Health Laboratory. These typically include well water samples and rabies testing specimens.
Where
We are located at 800 Haines Drive, Liberty, MO 64068. Drop specimens at the Environmental Health desk (first door on your left after walking through the main doors).
When
Currently, courier service is available Monday-Friday. Starting Nov. 7, 2025: Pickups will only take place Monday-Thursday each week.
Our building is open for drop-offs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 those days. Pickup at the health center is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. each day. Specimens collected at this time should arrive at the state lab around 7:30 a.m. the next morning.
Courier pickup is not be available on Fridays (as of 11/7/25), Saturdays, or Sundays. Many area hospitals (Liberty Hospital and NKC Health in Clay) have pickups every day BUT have the right to refuse rabies specimens. Find details and more locations here.
