Women, Infants, & Children (WIC)

What is WIC?

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a special supplemental nutrition program which provides services like:

  • Nutrition education and counseling
  • Free, supplemental food using an eWIC card
  • Health screenings and risk assessments
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Referrals to health care

Who is WIC for?

Eligibility for WIC is based on nutritional risk and income eligibility. Only the following people may be eligible to receive WIC benefits and services:

Pregnant Women

You can apply for WIC as soon as you learn you are pregnant.

Data shows that pregnant women who participate in the WIC program have fewer low birth weight babies, experience fewer infant deaths, see the doctor earlier in pregnancy and eat healthier.

Breastfeeding & Postpartum Women

Postpartum is up to six months after delivery.

Our WIC staff includes a breastfeeding peer counselor that teaches new and soon-to-be moms about breastfeeding and supports them through their journey.

Children up to 5 years old

Any type of legal guardian is able to apply on behalf of a child in this age range. This includes dads, moms, grandparents, foster parents and more.
