Emma Shankland, MS acts as vice secretary for the Clay County Board of Health. Shankland began a four-year term in April of 2024.
Shankland works at a local non-profit organization, KC Healthy Kids, as the director of food policy. She has an educational background in science and health and many years of experience with politics, policy, and advocacy. Shankland recently served one term on the KCMO Health Commission and was appointed as the Policy and Advocacy Collaborative Co-chair. She says, "I am passionate about civic engagement and encourage folks to engage with local politics."
Shankland has lived in Clay County for around 25 years in total and currently resides in the southern part of the county. She enjoys taking on different craft projects and learning new skills. One of her favorite things to do is to hang out with her cat, Cascade, and puppy, Harvey.
