The Clay County Public Health Center medical director is responsible for the evaluation of care standards, providing medical direction to clinical staff, and advising on matters that involve medical policy. The director additionally provides medical orders and standards of practice for clinical activities. The medical director does not keep an office within CCPHC and does not offer appointments at the health center.
CCPHC's current medical director is John A. Burroughs, MD, FAAFP, is a family medicine physician at Liberty Hospital Primary Care Kearney Clinic. For more than 20 years, he was an independent family physician in Liberty at Cobblestone Family Health and the medical director at Ashton Court Care and Rehabilitation Centre. A graduate of the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, Dr. Burroughs completed his family practice residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where he was Chief Resident 1998-99. He is a member of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians and American Academy of Family Physicians. Locally, he is a board member for the Northland Shepherd Center, which provides services to seniors in the Northland. Dr. Burroughs also is a certified yoga teacher.
