LABEL READING: Read any good labels lately?
Presentation and food labels provided to show how to read food labels. Basic nutrition and the food guide pyramid is used to demonstrate the importance of using food labels to choose a healthy diet.
Audience: Adult Length: 45-60 minutes
SNEAKING SNACKS INTO YOUR DIET
This program reviews how snacks can work into your diet. Quick snack preparation will
be demonstrated and recipes will be shared.
Audience: Adult Length: 30 – 45 minutes
TAKING THE FRIGHT OUT OF EATING OUT
This class reviews basic rules used when eating out, common pit falls and how to eat out
and still be on your diet.

Exercise for Adults
EXERCISE & ARTHRITIS: YOU CAN DO IT
This 30 minute class reviews arthritis principles and the importance of exercise when experiencing arthritis. Exercise will be reviewed and demonstrated.
Audience: Adult Length: 30 – 60 minutes
EXERCISE BASICS
Presentation and video designed to educate about the importance of exercise in attaining
and maintaining good health. Length: 45mins – 1hr
EXERCISE: USE IT OR LOSE IT
Presentation will include: the benefits of exercise, how to start an exercise program,
exercise and arthritis, and how to make exercise a healthy habit.
PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) Fee for Classes
This 6-8 week exercise class meets twice a week. Each class reviews basic information
about arthritis, stress management and relaxation. Medical release required.
Audience: Adults Length: 60 minutes
Safety for Adults
BACK SAFETY: Oh My Aching Back
Presentation on back safety and proper ergonomics while performing everyday activities. Exercises are used to demonstrate how to safely stretch and strengthen your back muscles.
Audience: Adults Length: 30-60 minutes
BASIC FIRST AID & SAFETY (Non-Certified)
Reviews basic principles about First Aid, what to do in an emergency and ways to protect
your self from falls. Can be adapted for any age group. This is a non-certified class.
Audience: Students to Adults Length: 30 – 60 minutes
ADULT CPR (Certified) Fee for class
CPR taught weekly or 4 hour sessions with demonstrations. American Heart Association certification after successful completion of class, test and skills demonstrations. Must attend all classes.
Audience: Students / Adult Length: 60- 90 minute sessions or 4 hour session
FAMILY AND FRIENDS Fee for class
American Heart Association class for the person seeking basic adult, infant and child CPR. Great class for the lay person wanting the skills and knowledge to do CPR.
Audience: Students/ Adult Length: 2-4 hours
INFANT AND CHILD CPR (Certified) Fee for classes
FIRST AID (Certified) Fee for classes
Basic First Aid through the National Safety Council. Four hour class includes how to
respond in an emergency, bandaging, splinting and more. Book issued and students
required to attend all classes, pass written multiple choice test and skills demonstrations.
3 year certificate.
Audience: Adults / Students Length: 4 hours
HEAT RELATED ILLNESS
Presentation over signs and symptoms of heat illness and how to prevent and treat heat
Emergencies. (With special precautions for senior citizens).
Audience: Students / Adults Length: 30mins – 1 hour

DIABETES
This class reviews basic information on diabetes, current guidelines, and care.
Audience: Adult Length: 30- 45 minutes
Dental Care in the Nursing Home
A presentation for nursing home staff on how to care for the long term resident’s mouth.
Audience: Adult Length: 60 minutes
GOOD NIGHTS, GREAT DAYS: PAIN & SLEEP
Presentation on causes of sleeplessness, how sleep changes as we age, pain and
sleeplessness, effects of sleeplessness and ways to accomplish a good, healthy sleep.
HEARD ANY GOOD NEWS LATELY? HEARING & HEARING AIDS
Reviews basic anatomy of the ear and how we hear. Discusses common hearing problems
and how to choose a hearing aid.
Audience: Adult Length: 30- 60 minutes
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: WHAT’S ALL THE FUSS?
This program reviews basic principles of high blood pressure, how it’s diagnosed, how to
control it, patient’s rights and common myths about high blood pressure.
MEMORY RETENTION
Reviews basic facts about memory and memory loss and ways to enhance and improve
one’s memory.
NO BONES ABOUT IT
Presentation will focus on bone development and the causes, risk factors, prevention and
treatment of osteoporosis.
SCRUB - A – BUG
A humorous way to review the importance of hand washing and the role it plays in disease
transmission.
Audience: 4th - Adult Length: 30-45 minutes
SPECIAL TOUCH Breast Self Exam
An American Cancer Society Class, this class reviews basic information on breast cancer
and the importance of early detection and prevention. A video is shown and participants
are shown how to perform a Breast Self Examination and practice on hand models.
Audience: Adults Length: 45 – 60 minutes
STRESS MANAGEMENT
Presentation and video on how to handle everyday stress. Facilitator will lead the group
through muscle relaxation exercises. Can be adapted for other age groups.
Audience: Adults Length: 30 – 45 minutes
SUN SENSE: SKIN CARE/SKIN CANCER
This program deals with ways to care for and protect the skin against sun damage, while
reviewing the signs of skin cancer.
TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING CAN HURT YOU
This class reviews medication, how they work, and precautions that should be taken when
on medications and / or when using over the counter medications.
TSE
Testicular Cancer is the #1 cancer of men between the ages of 15 – 35 yrs of age.
Testicular Self Examination video shown, current guidelines presented, group discussion
encouraged and literature issued.
Audience: Student – Adults Length: 30 – 60 minutes
WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE, BUT NOT A DROP TO DRINK
Reviews the role of water in maintaining good health and what the best sources of fluids
are. Signs of dehydration, heat stroke and heat exhaustion will be discussed.
Audience: Adults Length: 30mins-1hr
WHAT’S UP DOC?
A program for people who want to get more out of their doctor’s visit. Discussion and
handouts.
WOMEN & HEART DISEASE
An American Heart Association program reviewing heart disease, risk factors and how
you can help reduce these risk factors as they relate to women.
Audience: Adults Length: 30 – 60 minutes
